One method that is often seen as an acne scar cure is called punch excision.  Punch excision is a surgical treatment that is used for deeper, more severe scars commonly referred to as “ice pick scars” or “boxcar scars”.  A punch tool is used to excise the scars, with the edges of the skin being sutured together, resulting in a new mark that will heal over time, leaving nice, clear skin.  A local anesthetic is applied before the procedure, but it is a relatively minor procedure that is used by many as a cure for acne scars.

Dermabrasion and microdermabrasion treatments are also very popular ways to cure acne scars. They do so by using a high-speed brush (or in the case of microdermabrasion, aluminum oxide crystals that pass through a vacuum tube of sorts) to remove surface skin, which reduces the appearance of scars or removes them altogether.

These treatments do not work as well on severe, deep scars and may not be advisable for those with darker skin tones, as they may cause changes in the appearance of your skin pigmentation.
